Counselling Supervision

I am an senior accredited supervisor for both individuals and groups with BACP  and was awarded a Diploma in supervision with CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Award Body) in February 2008.

Model and Way of Working

My model is integrative based on the ‘Page and Wosket’ cyclical model with aspects of ‘Hawkins and Shohet’s ‘Seven eyed model’.  I encourage supervisee’s to bring their own creativity to our collaborative work and I offer opportunties to use other imaginative approaches including ‘animal figures’, use of drawing and materials to name but some.
My philosophy of supervision is one of ‘collegiality’ in which I see myself as a facilitator, helping to create an environment where a practitioner can explore their work in an atmosphere of respect and trust, and set their own agenda for their development.
Because counselling work can be emotionally difficult for the practitioner it is important that they experience supervision as a place to allow expression of difficult material and emotions and that they can be supported and helped to manage and contain these.

Student Counsellors
Student counsellors are particularly welcome and I have experience of 4 years teaching on counselling Diploma courses and therefore know something of the angsts and concerns that often accompany training to be a counsellor!  I am academically qualified to Masters Degree level in counselling so I can offer educational support and signposting for materials and articles to help develop students.
